Nazir brings over 25 years of experience in the public accounting field, most specifically advising small- and medium-size businesses in the specific service areas of accounting and income tax. His knowledge of accounting practices also extends to the application of technologies including individual accounting programs for his clients.
Nazir’s major client engagements are in manufacturing, the oilfield service sector, the information technology sector, engineering, retail grocery, real estate developments, and various franchised businesses, as well as optometric and medical professional corporations. Additionally, his expertise has been used in year-end inventory observations for various wholesale and retail outlets. His assignments have included assisting clients in government audits, resolving shareholder disputes, handling purchase investigations, and business sales.
Professional Memberships and Education
Nazir obtained his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of Pune in 1972. He obtained his Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation in 1993 through the CGA of Alberta.
Volunteer Activities
Nazir has been an active volunteer within the community since moving to Canada in 1982. As a member of the Ismaili Volunteer Corps, he has helped to manage and organize various charitable activities within the Ismaili community and the greater Edmonton community at large.
For the past 13 years, he has been a member of the logistics committee for Edmonton’s World Partnership Walk. This is an annual international development initiative to raise funds for the sole purpose of fighting global poverty.
In the past, Nazir has coached minor hockey and soccer. Notably he coached a men’s soccer team at the World Masters Games held in Edmonton in 2005.
Extra-curricular Activities
An avid sports fan, Nazir spends most of his spare time following various sports, especially English football (soccer to the uninitiated) and NHL hockey. He also enjoys reading, following global politics, and spending time with his family.
