Dan Basso has been in public practice since 1986. He is a specialist in income tax matters, with a particular expertise working for privately held businesses and individuals with high net worth.
His extensive professional experience with MacKay LLP includes corporate and personal tax planning, estate planning, sales tax, Canada Revenue Agency audits, corporate reorganizations, and the co-ordination of cross-border and international tax planning.
Professional Memberships and Education
Dan obtained his Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) degree from the University of British Columbia in 1986. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia (ICABC) and Canada (CICA). In 1992 Dan completed the CICA In-Depth Tax Course. Additionally, he is a member of both the Estate Planning Council of Kelowna and the Canadian Tax Foundation.
Volunteer Activities
Dan is the treasurer for Habitat for Humanity Kelowna, a roundtable advisor for the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation, and a member of the University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO) Gift Planning Committee. Frequently Dan is engaged as a speaker and presenter on a variety of tax matters at community events.
In the past Dan has served as director of the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce, director of the Kelowna Estate Planning Society, and an active member of the ICABC Tax Liaison Committee.
Extra-curricular Activities
In his spare time Dan enjoys spending time with his wife and three young children. He enjoys skiing, swimming, and cooking.
