Ken is a tax and consulting partner at MacKay LLP with a focus on tax and corporate finance issues.
Born and raised in Dawson Creek, BC, Ken has practiced in Kamloops, Edmonton, and Kelowna. He provides tax and business consulting services to a wide range of businesses including the purchase and sale of businesses, estate and trust work, Canada Revenue Agency appeal work, tax planning, cross-border transactions, and public company compliance services. Ken has assisted in arbitrations, court services, dispute resolution work, and public hearings.
Professional Memberships and Education
Ken earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta and holds a Chartered Accountant (CA) designation.
Volunteer Activities
Ken often leads seminars, courses, and presentations for CAs at the local, provincial, and national level. He also gives public talks on taxation and related matters. Further, Ken has volunteered at both a provincial and national level with the Chartered Accountants Institutes and currently sits on the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) Task Force on Tax Education. He has also participated on a Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) National committee related to taxation.
Extra-curricular Activities
He is an active member of the Kelowna community through his involvement in the Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club, the world’s first service club organization whose members observe the motto, “Service above self.” He has served in voluntary positions with Kelowna Minor Lacrosse, Football, Soccer, and Baseball, as well as Scouts Canada and Okanagan Junior Football. Ken participates in adult recreational hockey and is an avid Kelowna Rockets junior hockey fan.
