Mark began his career with a national Chartered Accountant firm in Halifax, NS. He remained with that firm for 25 years, working in Halifax, Toronto (where he was elected to the partnership), and in Prince George, BC. He left the firm in 2000 to work as General Manager for a long-time client in the forestry industry, but returned to public practice in 2003 when he joined the Calgary office of MacKay LLP. He currently works in the Kelowna office.
Assurance services have always been Mark's preferred area of practice, although his service to clients covers assurance services, tax planning, compliance, finance, succession planning, and numerous forms of management consulting. He has assumed the position of Canadian Standards Officer for MacKay LLP and continues in his role as Director of Quality Control for the Kelowna Office. His primary responsibility is to help ensure MacKay’s professional and technical standards are maintained at the highest level. He assists in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and training.
Professional Memberships and Education
Mark graduated from Mount Allison University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting (Honours) and Economics. He obtained his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in 1977. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia (ICANS), British Columbia (ICABC), and Alberta (ICAA).
Extra-curricular Activities
Mark enjoys British Columbia's climate and lifestyle choices – especially the numerous golf courses. He enjoys tasting new wines and takes advantage of the abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables.
