Steve, an associate in the MacKay LLP Surrey office, was the senior partner of Lake & Associates, Chartered Accountants, prior to this firm merging with MacKay LLP in 2003. His preferred area of practice is in management consulting including personal and corporate financial planning, such as business succession planning, retirement planning, estate planning, and working with the owner/manager in buying and selling businesses.
Professional Memberships and Education
Steve is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia (ICABC) and Canada (CICA). He obtained his CA designation in 1973 after earning his Bachelor of Arts in Economics at the University of British Columbia.
Volunteer Activities
Currently Steve serves as a director with the Surrey Board of Trade, is a member of the Fraser Valley Estate Planning Committee, a member of the Birch Bay Leisure Park Finance Committee, and a director with Act II, a non-profit, community-based social service agency operating throughout the Greater Vancouver area.
In the past Steve has volunteered with the 1987 BC Summer Games, the Western Canadian Chapter of the International Grapho-Analysis Society (IGAS), the Fraser Valley West CA Association, Kwantlen Polytechnic University Planned Giving Department, the Scott Road Business Association, and the Surrey Foundation.
He has also taught at the University of British Columbia and McGill University, as well as with the ICABC and the Delta Continuing Education Program.
Extra-curricular Activities
Steve is an active sports enthusiast. He currently enjoys playing hockey and golf. He has also played and coached hockey, field hockey, soccer, and curling.
His other passion is handwriting analysis. He is a Certified Grapho-Analyst.
