Throughout his career, Hugh has assisted privately held businesses in audit, accounting, and taxation.
Additionally, Hugh is a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) through the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators (CICBV), which is the only recognized valuation organization in Canada. The niche expertise of a CBV is often required when buying and selling businesses, resolving shareholder disputes, settling valuation disputes with Canada Revenue Agency, or determining losses due to business interruptions or personal injury.
Hugh has given testimony as an expert witness on valuation matters before the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
Professional Memberships and Education
In addition to being a member of the CICBV, Hugh has been a member of the CGA of British Columbia and Canada since obtaining the CGA designation in 1987. Prior to that Hugh earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon Fraser University.
Volunteer Activities
Hugh serves on the Finance Committee of his church and, in 2010 and 2011, he completed the BC Cancer Foundation’s Ride to Conquer Cancer, raising money to fight cancer by cycling 260 kilometers from Vancouver to Seattle. Hugh, who raised over $25,000 for the cause, enjoyed the experience and his small part as one of the more than 2,500 riders who collected over $20,000,000 in pledges for cancer research and treatment.
Extra-curricular Activities
Hugh enjoys salmon fishing and travelling with his wife and children.
