John Laratta has been in public practice for over 15 years and is currently Managing Director of MacKay LLP in Yellowknife. He assists clients in many areas including audit, accounting, income tax, and numerous special consulting engagements including evaluation, review and implementation of systems, review of organizational and board effectiveness, and ensuring efficiency and economy in operations.
Prior to joining MacKay LLP in 1995, John was First Vice President, Finance at the Arctic College from 1986 to 1993; in this capacity he established all the necessary corporate and management systems. More recently as the Director of Government Accounting, he was responsible for the financial reporting and financial operations of the Government of the Northwest Territories from 1993 to 1995.
Professional Memberships and Education
In 1984 John earned membership in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta (ICAA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Northwest Territories (ICANWT).
Volunteer Activities
John served as a member of the Council of the Northwest Territories Institute from 1986 to 1988. He continues to be active in the community serving in a volunteer capacity in children's sports and education areas. Currently, John is vice president of the Yellowknife Minor Hockey Association.
