Lana, who grew up in the Shuswap and Okanagan Valleys in British Columbia, moved to Yukon in 1973.
Her employment history includes banking, ownership of several small businesses, and working in the accounting field. Lana joined MacKay LLP in September 1984. In 1993 Lana took a leave of absence to work as the controller in her family business and returned to Mackay LLP in the spring of 1998. She currently works with corporate clients, personal tax clients, government, and non-profit organizations.
Because of her business background, Lana enjoys working with her clients and has a keen interest in helping their businesses grow and succeed. Lana, known for her warm and friendly manner, is willing to assist clients with all of their accounting needs throughout the year.
Another dimension of her job that Lana particularly enjoys is working with the MacKay LLP students. She plays an active role in mentoring students in the Whitehorse office.
Professional Memberships and Education
Lana received her Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation in 1994.
Volunteer Activities
Lana has been an active volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society for over 20 years and during the last five years served as president of the Yukon Unit. She also volunteered as a board member for the BC/Yukon Division of the Canadian Cancer Society for five years.
In 2008 Lana was honoured by the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, the world’s first service organization, and became a “Paul Harris Fellow” in recognition of her volunteer work with the Canadian Cancer Society.
Extra-curricular Activities
Lana is married and has two children and two grandchildren. In her free time Lana enjoys boating in Southeast Alaska’s Inside Passage with her family and friends. In 2002, with her family, she hiked the infamous Chilkoot Pass.
